Bodhi Animal Hospital
Ann L. Eliopulos, D.V.M, better known as Dr. E., has dedicated her work and passion to pet health and animal care for 33 years. After spending twelve years in many roles: veterinary technician, manager of an SPCA, animal control officer, director of an animal assisted therapy program, and ongoing rescue, it was clear that becoming a veterinarian was her only choice.
A 1997 graduate of the University of California at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. E has spent a large part of her career as an emergency veterinarian and spaying and neutering shelter dogs, which was a natural extension of her previous rescue work. As a veterinary student, Dr. E. worked closely with the Yolo County Animal Shelter and rescued and re-homed over two hundred of their abuse and neglect cases. Since a large portion of those dogs were pit bulls, her rescue efforts focused largely on that breed. She was featured in the Davis Enterprise newspaper and on CNN for her work.
In addition to working as an emergency and general practice veterinarian, Dr. E. has been a Medical Director for the past 8 years. After collaborating with Dr. Stephen J. Ettinger to create and direct the only 24 hour veterinary facility in the Palm Springs, CA area, Dr. E. moved to San Diego to become part of a new management team created by Pathway Partners in Austin, TX. In her role of Medical Director and Hospital Administrator at Bodhi Animal Hospital, she has helped grow and develop a general practice into what is now one of the area’s premier veterinary facilities. She remains active as a practicing veterinarian, and particularly loves the emergencies.
Dr. E. writes a monthly pet column in San Diego Uptown News and is featured in the independent documentary, “Beyond the Myth”, a film about breed-specific legislation. As a strong advocate of rescue dogs, she has integrated their care into the daily practice at Bodhi.
